poem: April 5

April 5th, 2007 · No Comments

I think I was in the eighth grade when I started keeping a notebook of lines I liked from poems.  One couplet that I completely misconstrued at the age of 14 is below.  This poem, “Remember,” is in the public domain; full text is here.

Better by far that you should forget and smile

Than that you should remember and be sad.

–Christina Rossetti,  late 19th century

I totally used to think this was about breaking up with someone. :)   I suppose that’s because it was quoted out of context…

I have lots to say, but also lots to do.  I’ve been buying myself presents. and I went to see the Yarn Harlot last night in St. Paul.  Tomorrow will be a big, multi-entry day, but today I have to get to the gym (working for those gold stars, you know) and hole up in the library for a while and try to write a paper and get to my office this afternoon for a non-work-related meeting with my most favorite group of coworkers.  So, for Friday:

  • the aftermath of quitting my job
  • stuff I needed and something I wanted
  • rearranging the kitchen
  • Yarn Harlot’s visit to St. Paul, from the perspective of me (including new and exciting sock yarn!).
