I’m just talking here.

There are just a lot of things about today that are way, way less than ideal. I would be interested in guesses from my readers (no fair if you have little kids) as to the cost of child care, per week, for a baby, at a well-known nationally franchised center. Just guesses. I bet everyone is way, way low.

I don’t have any little ones (anymore — they grew too big) but I know what I paid way back when, and will guess…$400? Too high (I hope)? One of the reasons I eventually stopped working was it just didn’t seem worth it financially after you pay child care and commuting costs and work wardrobe…

    I guess it’s $500 a month.

Or closer to $2000 a month for one of the huge corporate ones.

$175 per week, per kid. Guess. Ugh.

Having an almost three year old, I can tell you that I paid 640.00 a month til she was one, now it’s 446.00. :)

No fair if you have little kids, I said. :) But you’re still way low. Will reveal later this afternoon what I learned yesterday. It’s ridiculous.

KinderCare wants $246 per week, per child, with no option for part-time care until the babies are 16 months old. That works out to $25,584 for the first year, which is about $1300 more than my net pay. We are investigating other options. :) What we’d like to do is take the babies to someone’s house three days a week, which should be slightly less than $800 per month. We think.
