Last week was fairly miserable, for some reasons that I never fully figured out.  I think I’m over it, and today I got to do some teaching, which always helps.  Here’s the deal, though: the next thing on the library agenda is a Very Big Research Project on the Holocaust.  So I’ve been pulling materials and checking websites and cataloging (ohhh, the cataloging… save me), and you just can’t do those things without reading some.

Today I spent three entire class periods trying to reclassify a book of paintings, annotated by the artist (a Holocaust survivor), detailing the atrocities in the Warsaw ghetto before and during the war.  And it’s all very visual, of course, and some of this artist’s work was based on photos, and some of those photos prominently featured small children on the wrong end of large guns.  (Leaving aside the issue of whether there might be a right end of a gun for a small child.  Yeesh.)  Small, frightened children, not much older than my own.

This particular topic is getting to me a little bit.  I think I have to be careful with this project.  Please hug me.
