I’m just talking here.

rocky road brownies

Can someone tell me how to do this correctly?

I like brownies.  Fortunately I like them both with nuts and without (pecans, please, not walnuts — walnuts make my mouth hurt), because I live with three people who don’t want much to do with brownies that have nuts in them.  Anyway, I like brownies and I was trying to clean out the pantry, so I decided to use up some chocolate and white chocolate pieces by making Rocky Road Brownies.

So I bought a brownie mix and some marshmallows (which will TOTALLY help with the pantry-emptying project), mixed some of the chips into the batter, baked the brownies and sprinkled the marshmallows and more chips on top, then put them back into the oven to brown.  They’re reasonably tasty (though I only got to put nuts on half the pan), maybe a little too sweet (!), and much MUCH too gooey.  I was looking for kind of a dry-and-crispy experience, and what I got was marshmallows-on-the-sweet-potatoes stickiness.

Any suggestions?  (You should know going in, though, that I’m not going to make another batch anytime soon.  I need to keep my fillings intact.)

I think all the rocky road brownies I’ve had had the marshmallows baked into them instead of of top. But yummy, eat some for me since chocolate is not in my life at the moment.
