Share a Story, Shape a Future

Do you know about Twitter?  Sometimes Twitter is completely frivolous — like “there is a person at my desk who won’t go away and cannot rephrase his/her question to make any flipping sense, please commiserate” kind of frivolous, and also “I found a shiny thing!” frivolous.  But sometimes (quite a lot of the time, actually) it’s a means to provide information and connect people with similar interests.

Case in point: I just popped into Twitter and had a message from a classmate regarding a library conference that I’ll be attending in ten days (which, incidentally, I found out about because a different classmate tweeted it).  Then I found that one of the people I follow on Twitter is talking about this “Share a Story, Shape a Future” week that begins tomorrow.

I wanted to share this great example of using social media for real, productive work.  So many people think it’s just goofing off, but there’s much more to it than that.
